Author Interview: Ann Friedman & Aminatou Sow

An inspiring and entertaining testament to the power of society’s most under-appreciated relationship, Big Friendship will invite you to think about how your own bonds are formed, challenged, and preserved. We spoke with authors Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow about their favorite audiobooks, their love of indie bookstores, and more.

Deeply compelling…. This is the kind of book that makes you want to reach out to your best, biggest friends to say thank you, thank you, thank you for walking in this world with me. As with your big friendships, this unforgettable book is one you will want to keep close.

In two sentences or less, what’s something that might surprise Libro.fm listeners about your audiobook?

It’s definitely an audiobook but it’s produced kind of like a podcast—with a soundtrack, soundbites of the experts we quote, and a conversational tone.

Have you listened to your own audiobook? If so, what struck you about the narration?

Ann: I have not had time to listen to it yet! But I am excited to listen to Aminatou’s parts.

Are you an audiobook listener? If so, what are some of your favorite audiobooks?

Heavy by Kiese Laymon and Circe by Madeline Miller.

What have independent bookstores and/or booksellers meant to you personally and professionally?

We are each extremely devoted to the independent bookstores in our communities. We love their staff recommendations, the way they support local authors, and the warmth and friendliness they exude.
