Happy Meet a Bookseller Monday! We’re proud to introduce you to bookseller Kelsy April of Savoy Bookshop and Cafe in Westerly, Rhode Island.
How did you get into bookselling?
There was a help wanted sign in the door of my local Indie when I went in to get a summer reading book…I applied and never looked back!
What do you love most about being a bookseller?
I love connecting readers to just the right book. I love sharing the excitement and love for a book with a total stranger. I love being surrounded by more stories than I could possibly read.
What do you love most about your bookstore?
I love the look on people’s faces when they walk into Savoy – the wonder and amazement. I love how much people love this store.
What are you listening to right now?
Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes! It’s AMAZING!
What audiobooks would you recommend or are among your favorites?
Strange the Dreamer, Astonishing Color of After, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone are my top 3 audio books!
Where / when do you listen to audiobooks?
I listen to audio books mostly in the car, but also when I’m doing stuff around the house – like folding laundry or doing dishes. Also, when I’m walking to and from work!
What is your favorite thing about audiobooks through Libro.fm?
My favorite thing about Libro.fm is the fact that they support independent bookstores like Savoy Bookshop & Cafe. Libro.fm offers our customers a GREAT alternative to other audio book companies, and rewards them for making the switch!
What do you do when you’re not selling books?
When I’m not selling books, I’m usually doing some type of physical activity. Muay thai, jiu-jitsu, skateboarding, weightlifting, hiking, or just taking really long walks with my headphones and a good audiobook! Physical exercise and reading are the perfect balance.
