Meet a Bookseller: Melanie Moore

It’s Meet a Bookseller Monday, and today we’re excited to introduce Melanie Moore, owner of Cincy Book Bus in Cincinnati, Ohio—a bookmobile that uses all profits to buy children’s books to help build classroom libraries.

How did you get into bookselling?

I always dreamed of owning a bookstore and recently, I opened a bookstore on wheels in Cincinnati.

What do you love most about being a bookseller?

I love all the amazing book people I have met. Book people are the best! They are always interesting and share my enthusiasm for books and reading.

What do you love most about your bookstore?

That it’s so unique! It’s a mobile bookstore off the back of a 1962 VW truck.

What are you listening to right now?

Things in Jars by Jess Kidd.

What audiobooks would you recommend or are among your favorites?

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, The Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear, A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, The Reader on the 6.27 by Jean-Paul Didierlaurent, The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, and A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.

Where / when do you listen to audiobooks?

Always in the car wherever I am driving.

What is your favorite thing about audiobooks through Libro.fm?

I love that it supports independent bookstores.

What do you do when you’re not selling books?

I’m reading, of course!
