They told us about the inspiration for Twice in a Blue Moon, their own audiobook favorites, and what they love about independent bookstores.

Please tell us a little bit about what inspired you to write this book and how this story took shape for you.

The beginning was inspired in part by A Room With A View, one of our favorite film adaptations of a book. But from there, it took off and became its own wonderful thing!

In two sentences or less, what’s something that might surprise Libro.fm listeners about your audiobook?

Twice in a Blue Moon is our twenty-fourth audiobook!

What are some of your favorite audiobooks?

We both love audiobooks. Some of Lauren’s recent favorites include Bad Blood by John Carreyrou, and Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. Christina has loved Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev, and Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. And we are both forever fans of the Harry Potter audiobooks.

What have independent bookstores and/or booksellers meant to you personally and professionally?

We are both devoted indie bookstore shoppers, and have loved attending events at these stores as readers because they offer such a warm and unique community experience. There is nothing better than having someone hand-sell you your next favorite book. As authors, working with independent bookstores is always a real joy—we’ve been able to host events that are tailored to our books and our reader community.
